Payment methods
Cards and bank accounts a customer can pay with โ saved safely, without you ever touching raw card data.
A Payment Method is a saved way to pay โ a tokenized card or a bank account โ attached to a Customer so you can charge it again without asking for their details every time.
How it works
- To save a card, you create a Setup Intent, which opens a secure hosted card form. The card never touches your servers or PaymentGateway's API servers โ it's encrypted in the browser and sent directly to Vault, a dedicated card-storage service, which returns a token.
- To save a bank account, you provide the account details directly (local bank / bookbank, or Thai PromptPay).
- Once saved, either can be charged again later, or used as the
default_payment_methodon a subscription. - Retrieve a Payment Method, list every one saved, or list Bank Accounts.
Vault never receives or stores the CVC, and PaymentGateway's own servers never see the raw card number โ only the token. This is what keeps your integration out of PCI scope.
Common use cases
- "Remember my card" at checkout for faster repeat purchases.
- Setting a default card so a subscription can auto-charge every month.
- Saving a customer's bank account for future payouts or direct debits.
