Charges & payments

The moment money actually moves โ€” collecting a payment by card, QR, or wallet.

A Charge is a single payment collection. It's the core action that pulls money from a customer's card, PromptPay QR, or their PaymentGateway wallet balance.

How it works

  • You create a Charge specifying the amount, currency, and payment method (card, promptpay, or wallet).
  • Some methods finish immediately (charging a saved card); others need an extra step โ€” a QR code to scan, or a redirect to authorize โ€” described in the response's next_action. See Core concepts โ†’ Asynchronous actions.
  • The final result arrives as a webhook event. A completed Charge can later be captured (if authorized only), refunded, or canceled.
  • List all Charges, or retrieve one by ID.

For finer control over multi-step confirmation flows (e.g. 3-D Secure), use a Payment Intent instead โ€” it exposes explicit create/confirm/capture steps that mirror the Charge lifecycle.

Common use cases

  • Charging a saved card for a one-time purchase.
  • Generating a PromptPay QR code for a customer to scan and pay.
  • Deducting directly from a customer's wallet balance instead of an external provider.
